DESCRIPTION:The Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the 2023 Economic Forecast scheduled for Tuesday\, June 13th starting at 7:30am. Join us to see what the United States\, State of Connecticut and the Greater Danbury economy has forecasted for the upcoming quarters. \n\n \n\n"It's always important for municipal leaders\, business owners\, and residents to have an understanding of the local economy in order to make informed decisions\," said Ken Weinstein\, President and CEO of Newtown Savings Bank. "We know the Economic Forecast will be a great resource and we're proud to partner with the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce to bring it back to the community again this year."\n\n \n\nSponsored by Newtown Savings Bank and the Northwest Regional Workforce Investment Board.\n\n \n\nOur speaker\, Philip J. Lane is a Professor Emeritus of Economics at Fairfield University. He is a former mentor in the Ignatian Residential College (15+ years) at Fairfield University. His areas of research interests include depository institutions\, and financial modeling. His areas of teaching experience include money and banking\, financial markets and institutions\, and macroeconomics. \n\n \n\nHe is currently a faculty member of Connecticut School of Finance & Management (CSFM) sponsored by the Connecticut Bankers Association. Phil teaches the economics section of the curriculum.\n\n \n\nPhil received a B.A. in Economics from Providence College\, an M.A. in Economics from Northeastern University\, and a Ph.D. in Economics from Tufts University.\n\n \n\nThe students at Fairfield University awarded Phil\, Teacher of the Year and Advisor of the Year. Last year\, Alpha Sigma Nu (the national Jesuit Honor Society) awarded him the Magis Medal for 2019. \n\n \n\nPhil was a faculty member and academic director of the National School of Banking for more than 15 years. The National School of Banking presented Phil with the Father Thomas McGrath S.J. award in 2005.\n\n \n\nHe was the advisor to the College Federal Reserve Challenge team at Fairfield University for 15+ years. Phil is a past president (2004-2005) of the Trumbull Rotary Club. Phil is a member of the Knights of Columbus (4th degree) at Saint Catherine of Siena Church. \n\n \n\nMember Tickets are $40.
